Hollywood Influence the Third World Cinema

In the cinema world today, Hollywood movies are always has the good feedback from the audience from different countries. Since they get  lot of good feedback from the audience, Hollywood keep produced a lot of good movies to fulfill the audience's wants in the movie world. Meanwhile, in the third world countries also start their cinema world since long time ago. However, it doesn't get a lot of attention from the audience from other countries. This is where the start of Hollywood influence between third world movies and Hollywood movies.

In order to attract more audience from different countries, the third world movies starts to imitate the shot's techniques, movie's style, footages, plot and so on from the Hollywood movies. in third world countries, there are quite a number of movies that have almost the same plot of the story, same angle or shooting techniques that is imitating the movies from Hollywood. There are few movies that had been selected from the third world countries that get influenced by the Hollywood movies. The movies had been selected is Initial D, KL Gangster, Magika, Darr and Cicakman.

Initial D

KL Ganster

Magika

Darr

Cicakman

Initial D

Initial D is a movie that focuses on the car racing and car drift. Initial D is a Hong Kong movie and published at 2005. Before this movie, in Hollywood industry already have a lot of movies which share the same genre. Thus, in Hollywood movie start to influence third world country to follow the style, technique or so on to capture film. Initial D content is about the main character ,Jay Chow at these five year everyday was drive his father car (Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86) to delivery tofu, then he train out a professional skill at the drift. After that, he having car racing with other people and win all competitor, simulate the interest of car racing.

First and foremost, how the Hollywood influence for the movie? First is the movie poster. Fast and furious 2 posters all of the main character stand/sit around the main cars of the character drive and make it to become the themes; on the other hands, Initial D poster style have 60% similar with Fast and Furious movie poster such as they also use the main character stand/sit around the main car (Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86) and show out the meaning of these movie. It was the first thing how the Hollywood influence the third world country movie industry. However, for this research not only the Hong Kong movie initial D have this style, at Malaysian movie “Evolusi KL drift” also got similar style at the poster.

(poster of initial D)
Second is the costume character of the movie. For example, costume characters of Initial D all of them are look alike gangster or both of the characters got smoking or drunk inside the movie, because this was the more simple and basic costume the car racing or gangster style. Initial D has this kind of costume idea because it gets Hollywood influences. For instance, when people watch all different kind about the car racing movie such as Fast and Furious, audience can see all character inside the movie they are costume like gangster, most of the costume are almost Hollywood influence but got a style they won’t influence such as the sexy level because most of the western country are open-minded and always wearing sexy at all time, but the third world country (Asian country) are more conservative so Asian movie character won’t wear too sexy at all.

Third is the Hollywood influence the technique. The Hollywood movie Fast and Furious selected to compare with the Hong Kong movie Initial D. For example, “close up” shot are keep continue using inside the Fast and Furious movie. The scene use close up shot of the movie such as close up at the character expression when they are driving, most of it are focus on character eyes because can look out the character expression are angry or motivate. Furthermore, the third world country movie and start to use this shot to make the expression shot with a person. Initial D have more close up shot focus at main character Jay Chow and look at his expression when his having car racing or drive at Akina mountain; it would show out how professional or bored when he having car racing. Besides that, when car racing start, it use much low angle camera shot to capture the environment when the car racing, why they need use low angle camera shot because can see the whole environment and look clearly when car racing. When that time Hollywood influence using the low angle to capture the whole environment, so most of the third world countries are start influence by this technique; such as Initial D have most scene are using the helicopter and using the low angle to capture when they are racing at Akina mountain, when wanted capture full road and scene when racing at Akina mountain must using low angle to capture, because Akina mountain got much tree to block all scene, can’t capture when without using the low angle camera shot.

(face expression and car racing on the character)
In addition, the skills of driving are most important Hollywood influence with the third world country. For example, at the Initial D the drive skills most are influence by Fast and furious movie, like the skills how to drift, how to drive become faster and etc. Besides that, when a car need to drive faster and faster, inside the car add on turbo can become more faster. Inside fast and furious are add on the turbo inside the car, after that it would influence most of the third world country racing movie. Initial D have some part are using turbo to show the car drifting when they are in car racing.

(It was the part about the driving skill, technique and costume)
After that, Hollywood movie got a much influence on effect. Effect is a special technique. For example, inside the Fast and Furious movie have much effect such as when the car are racing because when make effect then can let the car look like more faster and graphic are more nice. So, at the initial D the director also put a lot of effects and graphics when they having car racing at Akina Mountain. The effects mostly focus around the car. (Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86).
Moreover, bigger cost also a most important Hollywood influence. Basically, most of the Hollywood movies are using the larger cost to capture movie. Hence, the third world country would influence by them start to using more costly at a movie and try to get a high quality movie. For instance, Initial D need most costly when the scene car racing at Akina mountain, because first problem the places at Japan, another problem they need to block or make sure the safety, so need the highly cost to capture, if without the highly cost to support, their can’t get a good effect of the movie.

KL Gangster

Video above is the official trailer of KL Gangster. KL Gangster, a movie production in year 2011 and the director of Syamsul Yusof. KL Gangster is a movie about few gangs of gangster fighting each other to show the power of themselves. Besides that, there also shows the caring of the main character, Malek towards his family members. He advice his younger brother which also involve in gangster not to mix around with gangsters anymore because he felt guilty as he had joined gangster before and were betrayed by a leader of the gangster and makes him sit for prison for five years.

In the movie of KL Gangster, they use different shots that can influence the meaning which audience will interpret. One of the popular shots is panorama shots. panorama shot define as an unbroken view of an entire surrounding area. Most of the people use it to shoot the view of the place area or a mental vision of a series of events. In Hollywood films, there is always panorama shot at the beginning of the movie. Besides that, in the middle of movie also use panorama shots to jump into another scene and story. In the Hollywood movie of The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift, a racing movie in year 2006 and director of Justin Lin. They use panorama shots to shoot the view in Tokyo, Japan. From the movie of KL Gangster, there are also a few scenes were using panorama shots to shoot the view of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia such as Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

KL Gangster – Panorama shot

Other than that, according to the movie of Red, The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift and KL Gangster, there are explosion in the movie. This is also a Hollywood influence from the Hollywood films. Usually the purposes of explosion were taking revenge, showing their status and power or the careless mistakes in the kitchen or other working places. In the movies that just mentioned, they were all exploring vehicles because of the enemy taking revenge on them.

The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift – Explosion

Furthermore, there are a lot of movies using high angle to shoot movie. In the movie of KL Gangster, The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift and Red, they used high angle shots as well. There are high angle shots when they show the car drifting from a point to another point in the movie of The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift. Then, there is also a high angle shot shows that a person looking at the helicopter that on the sky in the movie of Red. Moreover, there is also a high angle shot showing a group of people fighting in a place in the movie of KL Gangster.

Red – High angle

The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift – High angle

Other than that, in the movie of KL Gangster, they also use a technique of hitting car which is a car hit on another car and causes hurt or breaking the glass. Comparing with the older movie – Red, there is also the same technique of a car hitting another car and causes hurt. This is also an influence from the Hollywood films. Nowadays, audience will frequently see the same or similar scene in the movies.

KL Gangster – Hitting car

Red – Hitting car

Then, in the movie of KL Gangster, there are a shot shoot from the low angle. Shooting from low angle can let the audience see the results of the image and view taller. In the movie of KL Gangster, low angle scene shows in a scene that showing an apartment. Same thing goes to the Hollywood film, Live Free or Die Hard, a film in year 2007 and the director of Len Wiseman. In this film, there is a scene showing a person fell down from a high apartment. This is also a scene taken from low angle to shows the audience what is happening at the high place.

KL Gangster – Low angle

Live Free or Die Hard – Low angle

In an addition, there is also another popular scene that exist in a lot of Hollywood movies. It is a run and chase scene. Most of the films will take part of this on the road which has cars or people. Besides that, most of the films have this scene is because to avoid something to protect own selves or to escape something to attack them. Therefore, run and chase scene will exist. In the movie of KL Gangster, there is a scene shows that a gang of people chasing a person on a road. Then, there is also a scene in the movie of Live Free or Die Hard showing a few police chasing a person on the road as well.

Live Free or Die Hard – Run and chase shot

Lastly, Hollywood films have influence the other countries’ films nowadays compare to the past films. Other than that, films nowadays have already followed the steps of Hollywood films for example shooting in a club and showing sexy ladies. But in the past, there is no such scene. By following the Hollywood culture, there are a lot of scenes shooting in clubs and showing sexy ladies. This shows that how Hollywood has influence the films nowadays. In the past, the films are boring because they have only a few simple shots. But now, there are a lot of different shots and effect that can be made and edit. Hollywood has influence other countries’ production by playing with different style of shots and angles.

Trailer of Magika (2010)

In this movie, not only the techniques and styles, even the movie poster also has the same concept with a Hollywood movie call Spiderwick Chronicles. The side of Magika’s poster looks alike in Spiderwick Chronicles’s poster which used trees as the effect. In Magika’s poster, they also use blurring effect on the character’s leg like in the Spiderwick Chronicles’s poster as well. The arrangements of both movies are also almost at the same place. The main character of Magika and Spiderwick Chronicles was place in the middle while the other character was place at the side of the main character.

Besides that, Sweeney Todd is a musical movie that produced in 2007. The director of Sweeney Todd, Tim Burton used dull color like blue black color to show that the sadness of the main character who lost his wife. At the end of the story in Magika, the color of the scenes also used similar color like in Sweeney Todd. This is to show that the sadness of Ayu who missing Bad so much and walking alone in the jungle.
There is a part in Magika when Puteri Gunung Ledang holding a paper, the person which is the witch in the paper is moving. This part obviously can found in Harry Potter where the people in newspaper and announcement on the wall are moving. It is so obvious that Magika is imitating the part in the movie Harry Potter. This is how Magika has been influenced by the Hollywood movie.
In Harry Potter, there is an owl who responsible on sending letters or announcement to their owner. Same goes to Magika. In Magika, the Puteri Gunung Ledang has a bird who responsible on sending announcement to its owner.  This is the part where both of the movies using animal to send letters or announcement. This is the similarities that can found in the movie Magika with Harry Potter.
Other than in Harry Potter, there are some other movies that were imitated by Magika like in High School Musical. High School Musical is a musical movie had been produced in 2006. It is a dancing and singing movie. They used singing style as their conversation. In Magika, the characters also using singing style to communicate with each other. For example in Magika, when Ayu met Bad in the jungle, Ayu start to sing to tell Bad that she is looking for her brother, Malik and Bad also use singing style to answer Ayu back.
Furthermore, there is one part in Magika where the people gathering with Puteri Gunung Ledang to sing and dance together.  All of them sing and dance together while Puteri Gunung Ledang is promoting her potion that can make a person become younger. In High School Musical movie, there are also a part where everyone singing and dancing in their canteen. One of the basketball players started the singing first and the others sing together as well. These are the part where the Magika is imitating the plot in High School Musical. Not only that, both of these movies also has the same shots when shooting the characters singing and dancing together. The shooting style that used in High School Musical is from high angle and slowly zooms in to the characters. It is to show the audiences that who is the characters who are singing together and who is the character who sing solo. Other than that, it is to show the audiences the pattern of their dancing style. Same goes to Magika. Magika imitating the shooting style in High School Musical which is shoot from high angle and slowly zoom in to the character who is singing and dancing. This obviously shows that the Malaysia’s movie had been influenced by the Hollywood movies.
In Magika, there are also some scenes that used CGI (Computer Graphic Imagery) footage so that the audience will feel that this movie is interesting. In the whole movie in Magika, there are only some parts that are using CGI footage which is the trees who can talk and move. When Malik trying to pee on a tree, then the tree start to move and talking to Malik and the other trees as well. This part can be found in a Hollywood movie call The Lord of the Rings. The Lord of the Rings was produced in 2001 and directed by Peter Jackson. In The Lord of the Ring, there is a part where the trees can move and talk as well. The trees have a clear face expression in Magika and The Lord of the Ring. Magika is imitating the movie The Lord of the Ring by using CGI effect on the trees. The angle of shots of the trees in Magika also similar with The Lord of the Ring which is uses a low angle to shot the trees. It uses low angle to shoot the trees so that the audience can feel that the trees is talking to the character.
In addition, there are a lot of shooting technique that can found similar in Magika and The Chronicle of Narnia. The similar scenes in both movies is when the changing scenes. In Magika, there are a lot of changing scenes by using extreme close up onto the tree and change the scene. For example in Magika, Ayu is relying on a tree when thinking of Bad. At the sametime, Bad is also relying on a tree in Magika world and thinking of Ayu. At this part, the camera slowly move from right to left and showing Bad is at the Magika world and Ayu is at the normal world. This changing scene can be found in The Chronicle of Narnia as well when the 4 siblings entered the beaver’s house. The camera move slowly from right to left which is from outside of the beaver’s house to the inside of the house without cutting the scenes.
Moreover, in Magika, there is a scene used a high angle from the top and shoot the character who is lying on a sleeping chair. Beside a chair there is a flower filled with water. For example in Magika, Malik is very tired and quickly lying on the sleeping chair. From that high angle, the audience can see that beside the sleeping chair there is a flower filled with water. Although in Magika the flower is not relevant to the story, but the similar scene can be found in Hollywood movie which is Peter Pan. In Peter Pan, there is a scene that used a high angle to shoot Peter Pan lying on a sleeping chair. Beside the sleeping chair, there is a flower filled with water like the scene in Magika. So this is how Magika had been influenced by the Hollywood movies.

Darr (1993)

Sleeping with the enemy (1991) is a Hollywood violent love story. Laura Burney lives in a beautiful home by the beach on Cape Cod with her husband, Martin, a charmingly handsome and wealthy investment counselor who is also possessive, abusive, and controlling. It becomes clear that he has obsessive-compulsive personality disorder, and while she tries to abide by his needs, she seems to suffer under the strain. Martin believes Laura has been flirting with an attractive neighbor, and he physically assaults her as punishment. The abuse is an ongoing routine, which began immediately after their wedding. She is scared of his violent tendencies, which are hidden underneath a public veneer of perfection. A non-swimming Laura supposedly drowns during a sailing accident. The accident however was really a premeditated escape plan by a swimming-able and still alive Laura, who knew that Martin would never allow her to leave him as long as she was alive.

Sleeping with the enemy (1991)

Rechristening herself Sarah Waters, Laura travels from their Cape Cod home to Cedar Falls, Iowa to be closer to her blind, wheelchair-bound and nursing home residing mother, who Martin believes is dead. Although apprehensive at first, Laura begins a relationship there with Ben Woodward, the local college's drama professor who is attracted to her despite the many secrets he knows she is keeping from him. Meanwhile, Martin stumbles onto evidence that Laura may still be alive, and stops at nothing to discover the truth so that he can carry out his promise of never letting her go while she's still alive. Martin is lying to Laura’s mother that he is a cop that needs to help her daughter escape from her husband, and he is trying to get some Laura’s information from Laura’s mother. After that, Martin finds Laura and Ben at a local fair, and then follows her to her home. After leaving idiosyncratic clues around the house for Laura to find, Martin confronts Laura. Martin is trying to kill Ben and bring Laura back to his side. When Ben come to visit Laura, Martin try to kill him, they get into the fight until Ben faint. Laura doesn’t want to get back to him, so she fights with him and shoot him until he die.

Above are both of the movie’s plots. Darr’s plot is quite similar to Sleeping with the enemy’s plot. Sleeping with the enemy, Martin wants his wife Laura to be with him forever and do not let her to flirt with other man. And Darr, the third person Rahul wants to separate Kiran and Sunil and get marry with her. The character of Martin and Rahul is almost the same, the very love their lover but the use violent tactics to get the girl. They are trying to get their love using their violent’s action. They are trying to get close with the girl’s family and hide their identity and collect the girl’s information. On the other hand, they plan to kill the man and grab the girl from the man’s hand.

Darr, there are some scene is influencde by some Hollywood movies. The starting of Darr, is someone who peeping Kiran. This scene is almost same with the Home Alone (1990) scene which is the kid is peeping the two thieves in the shopping mall. Besides that, Rahul holding Kiran’s photo when he is singing to Kiran. This is the scene which is same with Home Alone (1990), when the kid taken their photo and gave it to the two thief. Moreover, Sunil wearing Ninja’s clothing to save their minister’s daughter, the ninja’s clothing is same as Three Ninja (1992). The costumes of the characters are all-black and fully-covered. They are just same as other assassins’ movies such as Ninja Terminator (1985).

Darr (1993) - someone peeping the girl.

Home Alone (1990) - the kid peeping the thief

Darr (1993) -Rahul holding Kiran's photo.

Home Alone (1990) - The kid holding the thief's photo.

 Darr (1993) - The ninja's clothing.

Three Ninja (1992) - Ninja's clothing.

Furthermore, Sunil going to save the minister’s daughter by helicopter scenes and some of the killing scenes are influenced by the Hollywood movie- Rambo (1982), Rambo is a fighting movie, Rambo came down from the helicopter and some killing enemy scenes is totally influenced Darr. Besides that, most of the Hindi movies has a plot which including singing part, so does Darr. There is a part where Kiran is singing in the bushes. The similar techniques and shots can be found in the movie of The Sound of Music (1965) which directed by Robert Wise. Both of the female leads are singing at the bushes.

Darr (1993) - Sunil coming down from helicopter.

Rambo (1982) - Rambo coming down from helicopter.

Darr (1993) - the killing scene almost same as Rambo.

Rambo (1982) - the killing scene.

Darr (1993) - Kiran singing at the bushes.

Sound of the Music (1965) - the lady singing at the bushes.

Darr depends a lot on natural lighting. For outdoor shooting, there are many shoots that shot in bright sunny day. It is similar to Rambo (1982). Rambo also uses many natural lighting for shooting and not relying much on lighting equipment. For example, when Kiran is singing in the bushes in Darr.

Above is about the Bollywood movie Darr influenced by Hollywood movies. There is not only the plot influenced by Hollywood movies, the scenes shot and character’s personality also influenced by the Hollywood movies. So, Hollywood is a very big influenced to Bollywood movies.

Cicak-man 2

Cicak-man 2 is one of the selected movies for this project. In Cicak-man 2, there are several scenes and techniques can been found which seem similar to some of the Hollywood heroic movie especially Spiderman, Batman and Superman. Besides that, there are also some similar points can be found in the other genre movies such as Science-Fiction movie Volcano and Drama genre movie, Vertigo by Alfred Hitchcock.

Firstly, Cicakman 2 is the first Malaysia film of comedy-superhero film which directed by KRU Member Yusry. It features almost 40% of CGI footage. Yusry mapped the visual effects while shooting the film to simplify the production process and cut the cost. There is a total of 400 CGI (computer graphic imagery) shots of Metrofulus city and character animation for Cicak-man 2 make up the film, totalling the special effects to 40%.

The theme of Cicakman 2 is similar with the typical heroic Hollywood films such as Spiderman, Batman and Superman which is superhero save the society from harm and loves one. Cicakman 2 revolves around an ordinary man turns into a superhero that has special power in sudden. Then, he uses his super power to save the world from criminals and kill the bad characters in movie.

Footages of Cicakman 2 are filmed in blue screen or green screen effect. It is also known as Chrome Key Effect. The first blue screen effect in cinema was employed in the production of The Old Man and the Sea Hollywood film which had been produced on 1958 and directed by John Struges. It is very obvious that Cicakman 2 has been influenced by the Hollywood as Yusry uses Green Screen effect just like how John Struges used it in the movie.

Cicak-man 2 places its setting in a city named Metrofulus. Even though Cicak-man is a Malay movie, it contains some other languages such as very little amount of English, Japanese, Afrikaans and some other dialects such as Cantonese. Metrofulus has a very strong feeling of Western. From the city, alleys and the room of Hairi, the male lead of Cicak-man 2, they all look much alike with the settings of Spiderman.

For the characters of Cicakman 2, it also has some likeness with Spiderman’s character. In Spiderman (2002), Tobey Maguire is portrayed as a shy and nerdy guy. In Cicak-man 2, Hairi also has been portrayed as a shy and nerdy guy. Both of them has the same personality that when they face their crush, they look shy. They will be panic and get nervous when talk to their crush just like how Hairi faces Tania and Peter faces Jane in the movie.

Besides that, for the costumes of the movies, Cicak-man 2 also has something in common with Spiderman.  The costume of Cicak-man 2 is fully red and Spiderman has red and blue costumes. The costumes they wear are flexible, tight and fit to their body. Besides that, they also have to change their costumes when they transform to the superheroes as the clothes is not attached to their body all the time.

Not only for the main character, there are some other characters in Cicak-man 2 such as passers also wear thick clothes with coats, sweater, scarf and hoodie, These costumes are hardly can been seen in Malaysia local film because Malaysia an tropical climate. It does not have four seasons. The uniform of Police in Cicak-man 2 is also different from the typical police uniform in Malaysia. In Cicak-man 2, it goes against Malaysia’s clothing norms and imitates Western cultures. It is clearly shown that Malaysia’s filming cultures have been influenced by Hollywood.

Cicak-man 2 has lots of scenes that use slow motion and fast motion. The most typical one would be when Cicak-man 2 travels from a building to another building in the city. The footages can be said exactly the same as in Spiderman. As for slow motion, in Cicak-man 2, there is a scene when Rhama fights with the followers of Bakar in Bakar’s house. The slow motion starts when Rhama climbs on a crystal light and shakes it, the crystals start to fall and hit on the followers. Spiderman also uses slow motion in the movie. It happens when Jane talks to Peter in a coffee house and suddenly a car is thrown into the shop from outside of the coffee shop. When the car flies in, the slow motion starts. By using fast and slow motion in the movie, it helps to stimulate the audiences’ excitement.

Beside fast motion and slow motion, Cicak-man 2 also uses another effect when the subject is moving with normal speed and the background is changing in a very fast speed. This often occurs when Rhama rides her bike in Cicak-man 2. Yusry apply the same technique into Rhama from Hollywood movie, Batman (1989). When Batman drives his car in fast speed, the same effect is applied.

Exploding scene also can be found in found in the movie of Cicak-man 2. It happens when Rhama places a bomb on Bakar’s body and the bomb is blown up then the house explodes. In the Hollywood movie Independence Day 1996, we can see the similar plot happens when the White House explodes. There is a shot taken near to the building when it explodes.

In Cicak-man 2, Yusry has applied Shot Reverse Shot technique when the characters are having conversation. When Hairi is having an interview with the boss of Tania for job, shot reverse shot is seen. In Vertigo (1958), there is also Shot Reverse Shot can be found when Scottie talks to Judy.

Furthermore, there are low angle shots had been shot in Cicak-man 2. It applies the same in Spiderman as well as Superman. It is shot when the main characters stand or squat. It makes the subject look more dramatic, gives the person an aura or authority, eliminates unwanted background elements or separates the subject from the background, dramatizes a point of view, heightens the sense of size and speed.

Besides that, in Cicak-man 2, there is also a scene which shot from high angle to show the location by shooting the water dam and the cave –Professor Klon’s living place. It reveals the name of the place –Empangan Metrofulus (Metrofulus Water Dam). Besides, there is also a fighting scene between Rhama and Cicak-man, Cicak-man is about to fall into a deep hole. In Volcano, there is also a scene where Gator is also falling into the volcano when the volcano is about to bomb. The techniques used in these movies are the same. The technique is shot from high and tilt downwards to show the depth or height of the place to the ground or perhaps infinity ground. By using high angle shooting, it makes a person look inferior, gives superiority to the viewers, shows the relationship of the various elements in the scenes, gives a sense of the geographical layout and shows action in greater spatial depth. It works as revealing the geographical layout.

Cicak-man 2 also portrays some scenes that being portrayed in Volcano (1997). In the movie of Volcano, it shows earthquake. Cicak-man 2 also has shaking scene where the laboratory of Professor Klon is almost blown up, the camera shakes and it creates the mood for audiences to make them feel like they are having earthquake. In this shot, the cameraman is shooting the scene by handholding the camera as handholding camera is able to move fluidly through the location and even the action. It also can convey better mood compared to still camera.

There are some scenes in Cicak-man 2 is shot in close up shot by defocusing the background. For example, When Hairi touches the crystal rock in Chee Feng Shui, Hairi and the crystal rock is focused and the background is blurry. This helps to remain the subject in background mystery and audiences will pay more focus on the subject because of the whole frame is in deep focus, the audiences might get distracted by the background. The situation will be worse if the background colour is too attractive as in colourful or moving objects behind the subject. We can easily get this shot in any genre of movies. In Rocky (1976), it has implemented many similar shots in it.

From all the points above, they all show that Cicak-man 2 is deeply influenced by many Hollywood movies especially superheroes movies such as Spiderman.  It is undeniable that Hollywood has very powerful impact to Third World Cinema.
